TUTORIAL: Subtle Halloween nail art

My last Halloween nail art tutorial I made was big, bold, colorful and very overstated. So let's do things a bit more subtle this time :) Not only that I also decided to use some classic nail art supplies like striping tape and crackle nail polish.

What you need for a manicure like that is a bright orange and a crackle polish. I used China glaze Sun worshipper and Fault line. I also used Wet n Wild Darkest hour to top it all off. Don't forget some striping tape, and some water decals or stamps to decorate your nails a bit at the end.

Step 1: Apply the bright orange polish. Sometimes the crackle polishes dissolve the base polish so make sure to apply a top coat before step 2.
Step 2: Apply crackle polish. And then wait and make sure that the base is dry before going on.
Step 3: Apply striping tape. I did it at random. Know that the more of it you apply the more of the base combination will show which makes the finished nails a lot less demure.
Step 4: Apply the black polish. Make sure it is opaque and don't wait too long for it to dry.
Step 5: Remove the striping tape. Do that as fast as you can after applying the black polish or the removal of the tape will be to problematic. Also remove the tape in the reverse sequence as you applied it or it might smudge the pattern if the tape is overlapping.
Step 6: Apply the water decals or nail stamps. I choose something in contrast to the base and with a slight Halloween theme so the manicure still looks in season. Don't forget a generous coat of top coat polish or the nails won't look very smooth.

This is the finished nail and I think it looks amazing! And such a great way to use our old crackle polishes that are not that trendy anymore :)

These nails were made as part of Halloween beauty posts on the page Glam express. Feel free to visit them since they are a great place for inspiration.

BPS no.8 Stamping polish Review

Here is the last of the stamping polishes I got to review from Bornpretty store. The one today is Bornpretty store no.8 Stamping polish. It is a cold purple shade that is perfect for even more Halloween manicures.

I have been seeing this similar design everywhere and I finally got the chance to recreate it :)

I tested it over a white and black base polish. And I was amazed how strong the color shined over black. It didn't lose almost any shade in its opacity. The polish applied easily on the plate and it was easy to work with when it was time to stamp it.

The graveyard you see here is made as a decal and I can promise you the polish works very well also for decals and does not damage the stamper in any way.

The polish bottle holds 15ml of liquid and comes whit the price 7.99$ which I think is a great price for that amount of polish.

For this nail design I used Essence Alice had a vision ... again, p2 Watch me walking and Wild white ways to make the gradient. Then I added a glittery layer with Catrice Sky & snow. The polish I used was BPS no.8 polish and HD04 stamping plate.

BPS Review: Ya Qin An no.21 stamping polish

It is time for another stamping polish review! I got this unique colored Ya Qin An no.21 stamping polish from Bornpretty store to review. And once more I am so happy that I got my claws on them since they are amazing!

And the color was perfect to make some abstract candy corn nail art <3

Like all the rest I tested the polish over a black and white base. As you can see the polish has no problem stamping over both - but like any other polish it turns a bit more vivid colored over white. The opacity is perfect, and the consistency of the polish works well with any stamping plate.

I recommend this polish for anyone who is looking for a unique orange polish. It is quite a steal since it comes up to 5.99$ for 18ml of polish. Which is enough to last you a life time :)

For this manicure I used Wet N Wild Darkest hour as base. I created the geometric candy corn decals using Ya Qin An no.21 stamping polish, Essence Love is in the air and Wild white ways.  The plate I used is BPL-027. Over it all I added a layer of China glaze Matte magic top coat.

If you are in search of a life time supply of stamping polish or any other nail art supplies stop by Bornpretty store and while you are there use the 10% OFF COUPON RJL91.

BPS Review: Ya Qin An Stamping polish no.15

I got a bunch of stamping polishes from Bornpretty store and since almost all of them are the classic Halloween colors get ready for some spooky reviews!

But today I got for you is a neon pink Ya Qin An stamping polish . I must say is was a bit sceptical since stamping polishes are tough to get right - it is all about the opacity. If the polish is not opaque enough it will never stamp well. But this one here is amazing! <3

This is the ultimate stamping polish test - stamp over black and white with the same pattern and polish. And here you can see I used BP48 stamping plate and it works great! The polish is opaque enough to stamp over black and of coarse white. It has the perfect consistency and it applies like a dream! It is a perfect polish for any stamping nail artist no matter the skill level.

As you can see the polish stays neon when it is applied over white like any neon polish and it turns a bit less bright over black. But it is still strong enough to be seen over any dark base. Which makes it a winner!

The bottle is 5.99$ for 18ml of polish. Which is the biggest package of stamping polish I've ever seen the price is quite low since the quality is so high.

For this nail art I used Essence Wild white ways as base. Over it stamped with Essence stamp me!black and over it with Ya Qin An no.15 polish. The plate I used is MoYou London Gothic 5.

So if you are on the constant hunt for deals on stamping polishes visit Bornpretty store Nail art store and stack up on some of these beauties. And while you are there use the

40 Great Nail art ideas Challenge: Orange, purple & green + Tie dye

I am having no luck in this challenge so far since I constantly get the most uninspiring combinations of colors and techniques. I mean tie dye ... I don't wear it or did I ever made it on nails :(

So I got creative made a mesh of the 3 colors and stamped over it with patterns that look a bit like tie dye. And since Halloween time is almost upon us I piled on as many skull related stuff as I could find. I like how it turned out since you need to look closely to see all the lovely details :)

To create this manicure I used Catrice Poison me, posion you!, p2 Tequila sunrise and Barry M Key lime for the base colors. Over it I stamped with BM XL25, BM612, MoYou London Punk 5. The stamping polishes I used are Essence stamp me! black and white. I also added some skull charms I had laying around :)

Wish me luck so the next combinations in this challenge will be more fun ;)

MoYou London Halloween Cute nail art contest

I love MoYou London stamping plates and since I follow them on IG I found their new Halloween Creepy & Cute contest and I decided to take part in it :)

If you are interested in taking part here are the Contest rules look them over and if you feel inspired join me :)

I created Zombie Bunny nails last year and I fell in love with the design so much I decided to make something similar again this year. But I wanted to take it to another level - so I added a toxic cupcake, some creepy animals and a butterfly that I adored since the day I got the plate because they look like the ones from D.Gray man anime <3

I love how these turned out and I can't decide which nail I like best ;)

I used a lot of nail art supplies here so I will describe them in 4 parts:
Index - The polishes I used are Essence Wild white ways, Stamp me! black, Catrice Purple reign, Inner purple of trust, Models own Purple glare and China glaze Sun of a peach. The plates I used are MoYou London Gothic 5 and Biker 5.
Middle - I created the base with China glaze Sun worshipper, Catrice Innocent toxin and Inner purple of trust. Over it I stamped with Essence stamp me!black and MoYou London Princess 11.
Ring - I created decals with MoYou London Princess 11 and 13 using Essence stamp me!black. I painted them in with Models own Purple glare, China glaze Sun worshipper, Catrice Innocent toxin, Essence Wild white ways and Morgan Taylor Pink flame-ingo
Pinkie - The polishes I used are Mundo de Unas Dark green for the bunny decal. I used MoYou London Sic-fi 1 and Time traveller Back to the 80s 2 on this nail. The other polishes I used are Essence Wild white ways, Off to miami!, Catrice Innocent toxin and Viva Brazil.

Wish me luck ;)
And let me know what is your favorite part of this manicure :)

TUTORIAL: Sugar skull nails

Some of my all time favorite Halloween masks are Sugar skulls thou I know they are not part of the Halloween tradition. I love them since they are the perfect combination of creepy and happy which is a tough concept to get across :)

Here is the art I came up with and I think they look so cute and a bit scary <3

For this manicure you will need a good white polish, I used Essence Wild white ways. A black polish I used a no name Skull polish. Some colorful neon glitter polish (since I don't have China glaze) I used Yes Love G17-5. A very thin brush to create the details. Big rose charms - you can get them at Bornpretty store or Lady queen beauty and some black heart shaped studs. If you don't have them in black take any other heart shaped stud and just paint over it. And don't forget some gel polish or nail glue to make sure that the big rose charms will stay on the nail!

Step 1 - 3: I didn't took pictures since it is self-explanatory. Apply white polish and over it the glitter polish. These are important to make the look more authentic since sugar skulls usually come in a variety of colors. Then take your black polish and start making little elongated half circles on the sides of your nail. Make sure you start a little bit under the half of your nail. Then paint them in. These will serve as the parts that will define the skull shape.
Step 4: Apply the rose charms. I choose a bunch of happy and bright colors to compliment the glitters. Try to apply them with nail glue or clear gel polish so they wont fall off. When you are applying them set them on the upper part of the spot you left for the face so the proportions will be correct.
Step 5: Apply the black hearts to give skulls noses. Apply them closer to the rose eyes so there will be enough space for the further design. Once more apply it with the glue of your choosing so they stay on longer.
Step 6: Create a straight line near the bottom of the nail. Make it quite thin. If you like make it in a U shape and it will seem like the skull is smiling.
Step 7: Make 3 small vertical lines for teeth. 1st make the middle one and then one more on each side so it all looks symmetrical. If you don't want it to look to 3D apply top coat over everything so the surfaces are smooth.

This is the finished look and I think they look so festive and fun <3

So far I was creating mostly subtle Halloween nails and this time I wanted to go in another way. These are anything but subtle. I love how loud they are since I feel that is the point of Dios de Los Muertos ;)

These nails were created for Glam express that is a page full of ally types of cool Halloween and beauty stuff - so head on over and check out the other talented ladies :)

40 Great nail art Ideas Challenge: Geeks / League of Legends: Heimerdinger - The Revered Inventor

Todays theme is geeks and the biggest geek in League of Legends is Heimerdinger. He is a little nerdy guy that creates tiny robots to fight for him, talks all scientific to the other champions and throws little electrically charged rockets :)

He is just adorable and has the nerdiest voice - maybe couz of his big mustaches over his mouth <3

Here you can see Heimerdinger my inspiration :)

I wanted to capture as much metallic particles as possible, layered with cogs and a real tiny robot. Also I added a mustache since a mani wouldn't be complete without it. I made a nail filled with little thunderbolts since that's is a big part of his game play and an Idea finger since he runs around and yells ''EUREKA!!!''

This is how he looks like in game, look at all the cute gadgets flying around :)

In this manicure I used OPI Push & shove as base, on the other nails I used Julep Lexie and Kiko 340. The stamping polishes I used are Essence stamp me!black, Mundo de Unas Yellow, Models own Chrome indigo and Color club Over the moon. The plates I used are MoYou London Gamer 7, Fairytale 3, BM609, BM305 and BM409. I also added a cute golden thunderbolt water decal from BPS.

My favorite Heimerdinger in game quote:
''Why do people say 'you can't trust atoms'? Because they make up everything''

Collaboration post: Autumn colors Manicure

Me and the swatch queen Tara from The Beauty of Nail polish decided to make collaboration nail art inspired by Fall.
Since all the blogs are full of Halloween themes we wanted to make something a bit different. And since we are both big fans of holographic polishes that was also part of the theme.

I went for a radial gradient made with holos to represent the warm glow of the inside fireplace that keeps me warm in these cold and rainy days. But to keep myself entertained I usually read books or cheesy horoscopes I can find in random lady magazines. And that is what Fall is all about for me since I don't like the cold or the gloomy rainy weather :)

I created the gradient with Color club Beyond, Jade Mystic gold and Jade Vermelho surreal. The stamps over it are made with Y020 stamping plate and Essence Stamp me! white polish.

Here you saw just my part of the collaboration but you must see what Tara came up with - her nail art is so on point you must see this!!! <3
